Local Ministries meet critical needs for Community Services. These needs include food, clothing, help during pregnancy, safety from domestic violence, home repairs, and training in Biblical principles and career skills to advance as a disciple of Jesus Christ.

Soup kitchens and much more

St. Vincent de Paul Place in Norwich, CT. Soup Kitchen, Food Pantry, Advocacy. Serves those who are physically, mentally, or spiritually impoverished. We welcome anyone in need. Our goal is to motivate our patrons toward self-sufficiency and a better life. St. Vincent de Paul Place is a ministry of and is supported by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Norwich.  Part of Norwich Unhooked a community campaign to end the use and abuse of drugs and alcohol in Norwich.

New London Community Meal Center. The New London Community Meal Center serves an estimated 75,000 meals per year. …learn more here

The Salvation Army and the Boys & Girls Club partner to help children in Greater New London. In the annual Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign, from Thanksgiving to Christmas, volunteers, families, churches and groups sing, play music, ring bells and have a good time to help the Salvation Army feed the hungry and house those displaced in our community.

CareNet Resource Center of SECT. Shares the gospel with women faced with the pregnancy decision. Trains people in churches to do the same. …learn more here

Malta, Inc. People from multiple churches go Friday nights to New London and Norwich to feed and clothe the homeless and give them basic necessities. Volunteers cook food to take. Malta also has a transition home for the homeless. …learn more here

Housing during pregnancy or domestic violence

Safe Futures saves lives, restores hope and changes the future for those impacted by domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and trafficking in southeastern Connecticut. Safe Futures scheduled a strategic planning conference March 12 and 13, 2020 at Connecticut College to develop plans for a Family Justice Center in New London. The center would help clients with multiple issues associated with domestic violence, including legal problems, counseling, housing, employment and education. See March 3, 2020 article in The Day.
