Find your mission in life and enhance it. It’s what you do. It helps you decide what not to do. 

This is an opportunity to take your life in a new direction. Webster defines Mission as “a continuing task or responsibility that one is destined or fitted to do or specially called upon to undertake.” Mission means the same thing as a Calling or a Vocation. That means someone must do the calling. Rethinking what we want to accomplish in our life takes time.

Our inspiration comes from Jesus’ prayer: 20 “My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, 21 that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. John 17:20-21 NIV

These are some broad examples of how to serve.

Jesus and His apostles, prophets, teachers and pastors, give us six important works of service. (Ephesians 4:11-13).

  • Go, take your church to the people, learn their needs.
  • Serve, meet their needs.
  • Love, God and your neighbor as yourself. (the Greatest Commandment)
  • Teach, the gospel and my commands. (Matthew 28:20)
  • Baptize,  move souls from being lost to being saved.
  • Make disciples, of all nations. (the Great Commission
How do you find individuals who need the kind of help you can give?

In your mission in life, which people in need do you serve now or want to serve?

Jesus gave examples of who to serve as well as how to serve. He described the hungry, thirsty, stranger, needing clothes, sick, in prison, and said, “… whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine you did for me.” Matthew 25:40 NIV

What Ministries already serve the people who interest you the most?

If you join or collaborate with one of these, you are almost certain to achieve more than the sum of your individual efforts. If no one is serving those who interest you, you may be especially needed.
